Baltimore teenager Tracy Turnblad has only one passion - dancing. The chubby girl with big hair and an even bigger heart wins a spot on the local TV talent show and is transformed overnight from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can she vanquish the programme's reigning princess, win the affection of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a television show all without denting her hairdo?!?

The musical features an original score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, with songs taking Tracy from the soundstage of a '60s style dance show to the streets of Baltimore and a downtown rhythm and blues record store.
