Show details

War Horse is the story of the relationship of Albert, a young farm boy from Devon, and his horse Joey and how they are plunged into the horrors of World War One. Adapted by Nick Stafford, the drama is based on a children's book written by Michael Morpurgo in 1982 and is told through human actors and life size horse puppets.

Albert’s family are struggling financially and his father raises money by selling Joey to the cavalry who ship the horse to the battlefield in France just as the war begins in 1914.

Albert is desperate for news of Joey and three years later runs away to join the army, ultimately spending years in battle with the hope of one day reuniting with his beloved horse.
